And more info before we go.......out of town.
The $50 entry fee includes the ride, the support in the field, the maps, sags and all you can eat dinner after the ride...... Just getting water "out there" is quite a task. The tee shirt is extra. This year everything will be in downtown Madison and we will not be using the High School. Keep training and we will see you in July...... Jim

Another lodging option is the Lazy D Ranch, 6 miles east of Madison on 3330 DD Road. I just reserved a room for Sat July 25 for $40, but owner Dan Thurston says he can accommodate 8-10 more. His phone number is 620-343-4300.
I can’t wait for the suffering. This will be my 4th DR and I hope to make it my 4th finish.
For those of you on the fence, just do it. This is one of the most unique landscapes to ride in. The group that puts it on is a class act who really cares about cycling.
Advice to newbies, keep in mind that this is a ride, not a race. Enjoy your self and take in the event. This is a 2 part day. First you need to get to ½ way before noon. You need to stay on top of your pace and the clock. I’ve seen many folks hammer for 20 miles just to become aid station refugees or spin granny gear for the next 20 miles at 8 mph.
The 2nd half is a test of your desire to finish. It will be hot, or stormy, or both, so hold on and take care of your self. Thank you to the organizers and the volunteers. Although safety is relative, I always feel like you guys have my back during the ride.
See you in Madison!
